A Dollar a Carload

A Dollar a Car Original WM

Title of Work: “A Dollar a Carload”

Inspired by: The Ocala Drive-in Theater, 4850 South Pine Ave., Ocala, Florida

Artist’s Notes: During their heyday in the 1950s and 1960s, drive-in movie theaters often charged admission by the carload, making it a budget-friendly form of entertainment for families. At theaters that charged admission per-person, teenagers often would smuggle their friends past the ticket booth by loading them in the trunk of the car.
